Over the past couple of weeks we have been learning about 2D shapes and today we also looked at 3D shapes. We sorted many different shapes into 2 groups, 2D and 3D. We noticed that 2D shapes are flat and 3D shapes are fat! We also explored how we could roll and stack 3D shapes and even learnt some of their names.
Today some of us having been playing Snap! with the Phase Three tricky words. Then we matched them up and sorted them too. Mrs Bestford has challenged us to learn how to read and write them!
We have been learning all about the names of 2D shapes and their properties. We sorted them into groups of the same shape and then found other ways to sort them such as the shapes that had the same number of sides and corners.
For Red Nose Day we had silly hair and silly faces, It was great fun and we all looked great!
This week we have started to learn about the life cycle of a butterfly. We watched a really interesting stop motion video of a monarch butterfly transforming from a caterpillar, it was so fascinating that we watched it several times! Click on the link below to see it.
Next, we observed some sequenced photos of the butterfly life cycle and worked with a partner to put them in the correct order. Finally, we learnt a song to help us tell the story of the changes that the butterfly goes through, it had actions to go with it which we really enjoyed acting out.
These are some of the glasses we put on show for the DT Expo. Here we are wearing them!
